We are delighted to announce the following dates for our annual SIVA AFI FESTIVAL, from Thursday 6th through to Saturday 8th March 2025 and will be held at the Māngere Arts Centre in Māngere, Auckland, NZ.
Siva Afi Festival 2024
The Siva Afi Festival is a pioneering event that brings the talents and skills of wāhine and rangatahi to the fore, through a centuries-old traditional art form from Samoa – siva afi/fire knife dancing.
Day 1 of the Festival is dedicated to our Wāhine Toa Afi Competition.
The Siva Afi Festival is in its fifth year, and we’re excited to be welcoming international competitors to our all-female Siva Afi competition, as well as special guest performers and internationally renowned experts.

Wāhine Toa Afi Exhibition, Le Taupou Manaia, Auckland, Vaimatina TripleThreat (US), Jeralee Galea’i (US) – Female World Fire Knife Champion, Popea Lautala – 3 times Teuila Siva Afi Champion, Samoa, and many more!
Pacific Dance OnScreen
Pacific Dance OnScreen is the film screening of the Pacific Dance Festival. The team at Pacific Dance NZ have brought together a collection of films inspired by Pacific dances – although not all fit into a traditional definition of a dance film, all have a love of dance at their core.
Pasifika Festival /Samoa Village Stage
A community event open to all interested in an exchange with some of the best in Siva Afi and Polynesian performing arts.

A community event open to all interested in an exchange with some of the best in Siva Afi and Polynesian performing arts.
Siva Afi Drumming Workshop
Learn the unique style of fire dance drumming from the world-renowned drumming team based in Hawaii. Open to all from ages 10 years+. Boys, girls, and adults. Limited places available.
Open to all ages from 10yrs+ and welcoming everyone in the community, regardless of cultural and religious affiliations, abilities or gender. Limited to 20 participants, so make sure you register early.

Siva Afi Festival 2023
The Siva Afi Festival will be in its fourth year running and we’re excited to be welcoming international competitors to our all-female Siva Afi competition, as well as special guest performers and internationally renowned experts.
Day 1 of the Festival is dedicated to our Wāhine Toa Afi Competition and Day 2 is the NZ Schools Siva Afi Competition.
PolyX Polynesian Night Markets will be providing food and craft stalls throughout the Festival days.

Siva Afi Mangere Workshops
Learn the traditional Samoan Siva Afi (fire knife dance) art form by joining our free series of workshops. Open to all ages from 5yrs + and welcoming everyone in the community, regardless of cultural and religious affiliations, abilities or gender. Our workshops provide an opportunity to either be introduced or develop and upscale what you’ve already learnt, as well as meet other performers of the art form. On completion of the workshop series interested participants will have the opportunity to take part in a public performance of Siva Afi.
Limited to 40 participants, so make sure you register early.
